Thursday night’s home Premier League Cup has been called off, as Leeds City Vixens have withdrawn from the competition, owing to fixture congestion.
Under the rules of the competition, the remaining three teams have been awarded three point, which means that Leeds will definitely progress to the last 16 stage, provisionally on Sunday 25 March – ‘provisionally’, because the outcome in part depends on the result of the remaining fixture, between Sheffield FC and Sunderland Women, also due to take place this Thursday.
The group winner will face the winners of Group One – which could be Blackburn, who play in the FA Cup on 25 March, while the runners-up will face the first-best third-placed team, yet to be decided.
