Cantrell and Staneff back at Leeds!

26 October 2012

Leeds United Ladies is proud to announce that former players Natalie Staneff and Carla Cantrell have both re-signed for the club and are available to play in Sundays game at home to Portsmouth.

Striker Cantrell re-joins from Super League side Lincoln Ladies where she scored four goals in sixteen appearances this season.  A member of Leeds triumphant 2010 Premier League Cup team, Cantrell will add some big game experience to a talented but youthful attack. She is currently working with the Leeds United Foundation.

Wakefield-born centre-half Staneff is a former Leeds captain and returns to the club after a season away travelling the world. A tall and consistent defender, and a former captain of the first team, Staneff adds some much needed strength to a position in which Leeds have been plagued by early season injuries.

“I am delighted to welcome both Nat and Carla back to the football club,” said Leeds Manager Andy Burgess. “There are so many positives to them signing – they know the club, they know the players, and they know me – but above and beyond that they are quality players that will in turn help us score goals, and stop goals.

“I can’t wait to see them both back in Leeds shirts on Sunday.”

Fans will get their first chance to see the pair in action when Leeds entertain Portsmouth at Throstle Nest on Sunday. Kick-off for the Premier League National Division clash is at 2pm, with live text commentary available here on the club web site.
