I returned home from La Manga on Saturday afternoon, I cannot believe that only 2 hours on a plane and the weather is completely different. It was bright sunshine when we left Alicante airport and when we arrived in Gatwick it was black clouds, rain and wind.

Sue SmithThe plane even skidded a little when we landed on the runway, which was pretty scary after we had been watching the news all week regarding the British Airways flight that had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow. Terry Venables was a on our flight, I think he has been hiding out in La Manga since his departure from England with Steve McClaren. He was a really nice guy asking all about our trip and saying he had watched us in the World Cup. We also found out there was a Hollywood A-Lister on the flight too. However even after finding out the guys name none of us knew him so that was bit of a let down. They all proceeded to the 1st class lounge and seats while we waited with everyone else (the life of a superstar eh).

I think I must suffer from the SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as do many others in the country. The sunshine just gives you a lift and makes you want to do things but when its dull and raining everything is a chore. At least I have had a bit of sun so hopefully that will last me for a few weeks.

I travelled back home and all the way it rained so I was pretty sure the game against Liverpool would be cancelled. According to my Mum and Dad, who had to look after my little dog Jack all week and take him for very wet walks, (sorry Mum and Dad) the rain just hadn’t stopped and everywhere was flooded. However I didn’t get a call. We turned up to the game and the pitch was awful all flooded in the middle and in the goalmouths, but the wings seemed perfect (thank god I am a winger). I am always trying to tell Rick I am a centre midfielder but not today. We knew the game was going to be a battle and fancy football wasn’t on the agenda so we all pulled our sleeves up and got stuck in. We managed to win the game 3-0 which we were delighted with as its not really our style of play but it just proved that we can change our game when we have to. I am still washing mud out of my hair though. As will our manager Rick it was his 40th birthday so as a present we managed to get him in the mud and completely cover him. Happy Birthday Gaffer!!

We play Chelsea in the next round of the cup of Sunday. This is a massive game for us, as we want to do well in the FA Cup. We have had two really difficult draws Bristol being our first game and now Chelsea. If anyone wants to come to the game your support would be much appreciated – however it is in London so I’ll let you all cheer us on from the comfort of your sofa..
