Welcome from Cyprus Can you believe it has rained the entire time we have been here, the first night there was even a little thunderstorm. Not that I only came for tan but it is always nice to combine the sunshine and football.
We played Sweden on Tuesday and although dominating the game with some great play and creating some great chances Sweden were the more clinical and they won the game 2-0. I was obviously disappointed with the result but to make things worse I hurt my knee in a tackle so have put myself out of the Norway game today. I am praying that it isn’t anything serious because of the international games coming up and all the Leeds games we have, particularly the quarter final against Cardiff on the 24th of this month. I need some serious positive thinking from everyone in Leeds..
We don’t have a game for Leeds this weekend as all of the England squads are away. We have a lot of players involved in all of the teams, including captains in the under 17’s (Gemma Bonner) the under 20’s (Sophie Bradley and Steph Houghton captained their side a game each). The future of Leeds ladies looks bright. Going off the subject of football for a second, we have a Masquerade Ball on Friday 14th March at Elland Road. An evening of opulence and mystery awaits you. Glamorous guests will be transported through time as they arrive at the star-lit venue which will create a perfect evening of mystery and luxury as masks and formal dress will obscure your identity. Guests will enjoy a fabulous three-course dinner, be mesmerised by a table magician, rub shoulders with celebrities and entertained by live music, providing an opportunity to show off their amazing masks on the dance floor. In addition, bidders will have the chance to win unique sporting memorabilia and fantastic prizes in a special auction on the night. Sounds cool eh? The Masquerade Ball aims to raise funds for Leeds United Ladies' teams, as well as making a donation to Cancer Research. It will be an opportunity to celebrate the club's achievements over the past year, socialise with players and staff and have a wonderful time. Leeds United Ladies would like to thank everyone for interest, help and support throughout the season, and we hope that anyone with an interest in the game and the club can join us at this evening of fundraising and celebration. Tickets to the Masquerade Ball cost £40, with discounts available for tables of 10. For further information on the Ball, visit www.leedsunitedladies.com, send an email to
