Hi Guys Well I should be writing to you from Northern Ireland (England are playing a qualifier against them tonight). However the knee injury that I sustained during the last England get together is still niggling on.
I met up with the team on Sunday night and had a fitness assessment only to be told I wouldn’t be fit to go and I needed to carry on with my rehab and get physio treatment back home. However before I left I was injected with a huge needle (maybe I exaggerated on the huge) that was put in under my kneecap. This is to help promote healing quicker, lets hope it works! I hate missing any games and like I mentioned last week I am the worst fan in the world. I am sure the girls will tell you after our game against Arsenal last Sunday. I was constantly shouting at the ref and jumping up every time we got near the goal, no change there then! We actually lost the game 4-0 but I was proud of how the girls played and we tried to play football and did create chances in the second half. Arsenal are a great team and they bounced back well from their defeat in the League Cup Final against Everton.
Talking of the Final. It was a great occasion and I always love doing the punditry. However I do get a lot of stick from my friends at the end of it all. The Sky presenter introduced me as “Leeds and England player Sue Scott” so that’s been my new name ever since. It was a great game and the result shocked most people involved in women’s football. Arsenal haven’t been beaten since 2006 and are a force to be reckoned with. Not only are they full of internationals (8 in the full England squad) they also have the captains of England, Wales and Scotland and Ireland. Everton went out with a game plan and it worked they defended so well and attacked with style. The game finished a deserved 1-0 to the blues. I have a lot of friends at Arsenal but the result was good for the game. Arsenal seemed to have a psychological advantage over a lot of teams, hopefully this is broken and teams can now believe they can be beaten. Well-done Everton. I hope you have all bought your tickets for the Masquerade Ball. We all had to pose in our kit and masks on Sunday so while we are making ourselves look silly for the club please come and join us. There are supposedly some special guests coming (apart from us that is) It is being kept all hush hush..but I predict a riot!!! |
