Carly joined the club last summer from Sunderland, where she had proved to be one of the best goalkeepers in the country and is a former player of the FA Player Development centre. Carly has progressed through the youth ranks to the full England squad, which included a place in Last Summers World Cup squad in China. She is a great athlete and has the ability to push for a place in the England starting eleven.

Emma Higgins

Emma joined Leeds at the beginning of the season and is a student with Leeds United Ladies partner Leeds Metropolitan University. She is a regular member of the Northern Ireland squad and recently faced England in the European qualifier, where she saved a penalty from Kelly Smith and came away with rave reviews. Emma played in Leeds’s FA Cup fifth round win against Chelsea where her penalty save helped Leeds progress.


Name: Sophie Bradley

A young, solid defender who reads the game so well, Sophie is in her second season at the club. A former Nottingham Forest player and currently a student at the FA Player Development Centre at Loughborough. Sophie played in last season’s League Cup final where is was award ‘Player of the Match’ for her outstanding performance.
Sophie is the captain of the England U19 squad, playing in the UEFA U19 final in Iceland last summer, which provided her with valuable experience that will enable her to continue to develop for both club and country.


Name: Georgie Adams

The former Charlton defender is a new member of the squad for the 2007-08 season. Georgie is a student at Loughborough and will also bring valuable knowledge of the game having represented England at youth level up to the U21 squad. Her experience was enhanced further when she represented the British University Squad at the World Student Games in Bangkok last summer. Georgie hasn’t played as many games as she would have liked but has been a valuable member of the squad and certainly hasn’t let anyone down when selected to start.

Jessica Wright
Birthday: 11/09/83
Position: Defender

Jess is the Leeds United Ladies Captain who leads by example both off and on the pitch. This is her second season at the club, following spells playing in Norway and at Fulham LFC. A former FA Development Centre player, Jess is a strong, reliable defender who imposes her presence and knowledge of the game positively to her team members. She will hope to continue her form that led to her representing her country at youth level and be the players’ player last season.

Name: Alex Culvin

Alex is one of several players from both FA Cup and League Cup finalist’s squad. She is a left back who posses one of the best left foot in the country. Her feisty character is demonstrated through her enthusiasm and determination to succeed. In the past her technical ability has interested England scouts which led to being involved at training camps at youth level. She will hope to strive to consistent performances that will catch the eye of international staff in the near future.

Gemma is the youngest member of the squad at just 16. She is a centre half who has represented England at U15 and U17 as well as attending U19 training camps. Her attitude and determination has seen her as a regular in the first team squad., and is presently attending the FA Player Development in Loughborough. Gemma is another one of the youngsters who have come through the youth teams at Leeds and has huge potential to be a regular both at club and International level.


Nicole Emmanuel

Position: Defender/Midfielder

Nicole is one of the longest serving players within the current squad. Despite her tender age she now enters her fifth season as a versatile and experienced member. She is another former member of the FA Player Development Centre at Loughborough and has represented England at all age groups, as well as the British Universities squad at the World Student games in Bangkok. As an accomplished player in several positions she will be hoping for another successful season taking a step closer to achieving honours with the club.


Olivia Thackray
Birthday: 08/02/90
Position: Defender/Midfielder

Olivia is another player who has come through from the youth squads, reserves and this season has been a regular squad member. Last season saw her progression continue by breaking into the first team squad towards the back end of the season. Olli is a versatile player capable of playing anywhere down the left or even up front and she has represented England at U15 and U17 levels. She is one of the characters of the team and brings high energy and enthusiasm levels to the squad which will play a key role in her personal and professional development.

‘Macca’ signed for the club in 2006 having previously played for Fulham and Arsenal where she has gained every domestic honour available as well as playing in Europe and full international honours. Rachel is a valuable member of the squad bringing aggression and passion to the midfield. Her season-long absence due to cruciate ligament surgery has been tempered by the birth of her first child in early April.

Katie Holtham

Position: Midfielder

Katie is a midfielder with tireless energy, signed before the start of this season from Charlton Women FC. A member of the FA Player Development Centre, she has progressed through the youth ranks at England and currently is involved with the U23 squad. She will hope to continue last season’s form where she scored in the FA Cup Final and progress to the England senior squad.

Sue is one of the most recognisable players within the women’s game. She is in her sixth season at Leeds, having remained with the club through its recent transition,. Sue is a skilful, attack-minded player who creates and scores valuable goals, and a regular England international who is a consistent performer, which has seen her selected for the FIFA World All stars as well as gaining over 60 caps. Having been involved in European Championships and the last World Cups in China she will be hoping to get to her third cup final with Leeds in the last three years.

Having come through the ranks as a youngster at Sunderland AFC, Steph signed for the club last summer. She is a valuable member of the squad and is equally capable of playing in any unit on the pitch. Steph is a current member of the FA Player Development Centre and has recently made the breakthrough to the seniors having represented England in all age groups. It is hoped that she can continue her recent success of being named the young player of the season for last season. Steph missed out on going to China for the World cup with England after breaking her leg a few days before flying out, which has seen her miss the first half of the season, so she’s looking to make time up by helping Leeds progress in the FA Cup.

Jess is an example of the efficiency of the clubs youth production line. She has developed through the age groups within Leeds youth system and is now entering her third season as a regular first team squad member. She is an exciting pacey winger and one of the most skilful players within the league. Jess is a member of the FA Player Development Centre at Loughborough and has represented England at U15, U17 and recently U19. Her experience at such tender age has recently been enhanced as a member England squad who were finalists of the UEFA U19 European Championships in Iceland.

Jade was a new addition to the squad last summer. Despite being one of the youngest players within the squad her supreme fitness levels add valuable energy and enthusiasm to the club. She is one of several players representing the club at the FA Player Development Centre where she will learn her football and educational trade. Jade previously played for Lincoln. Her international experience, representing England at U15, U17 and as member of the U19 squad at the European Championships, will help her make the step to the National League. Jade is a very talented for her age and has the ability to go far in the game.

Sophie is another player to come through for the successful youth teams and progressed through to the first team squad at 15 years of age. Her rise took her from playing with the U16s to being a member of the FA Cup final squad within 12 months. She is a tidy midfield player who has great vision and passing ability. This season will be Sophie’s third season as first team player which has also seen her represent England at U15, U17 & U19 levels. Recently her development continued as a member of the England U19 squad at the European Championships.

Mel has been at the club for several years as a youth player., forcing her way from the reserve team into the first team last season. She is an accomplished player with great technical ability and pace, capable of playing in several positions. Her striking ability brought her to the attention of the England selectors, attending training camps for the U15 and U17 squads. It is hoped that her continual development and education will help her regain international recognition.

As the clubs longest serving player, Lucy is Leeds through and through.  Playing for the club for over a decade and now a lecturer at the boys academy, her passion and experience is invaluable.  She has seen the club rise from a local community club in the lower divisions to develop to a top three club in the country. She was unlucky to get injured in the first league game this season, rulingher out for the rest of the programme, but has still been able to do her bit for the club as a BBC co-commentator, first at the World Cup in China and lately at the BBC’s coverage of England’s Euro 2009 qualifiers.

‘Munch’ will enter her second season at the club having previously played all her career in the top flight for clubs such as Charlton, Everton and Doncaster Rovers Belles. She is an international striker and a calm and clinical finisher. As a former FA Development Centre player and with international experience at both youth and senior levels, her knowledge of the game is invaluable. On several occasions she has finished with the Golden Boot as top goalscorer. She will hope that this individual success will continue and contribute to team honours.
